41st Annual Dimensions in Jazz Festival

On Saturday, March 8, 2014 forty-seven high school jazz ensembles and twelve combos will participate in the 41st Annual Dimensions in Jazz Festival at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Mark Buselli, director of jazz studies at Ball State, is excited about this year’s festival. “This is a wonderful opportunity to hear some of the best bands the region has to offer. We will have five separate performance rooms, all within walking distance, going non-stop the entire day with an awards ceremony starting at 6 p.m.,” Mr. Buselli comments.

The day starts at 9 a.m. and culminates with a 7:30 p.m. concert in Emens Auditorium. The concert will feature the top two high school jazz bands, and the Ball State Jazz Lab Ensemble with guest trumpet artist Byron Stripling, a former member of the Count Basie Orchestra.

Free clinics ranging from studio recording to improvisation will be offered throughout the day. The day’s events are free. Tickets to the evening concert can be purchased at the Emens Auditorium Box Office. General admission is $7; $5 for students with ID and seniors.

The festival would like to thank Music for All for its sponsorship.
