School of Music will host the CBDNA North Central Division Conference

The Ball State University School of Music will host the College Band Director’s National Association North Central Division Conference this spring from February 27 through March 1, 2014. All events will take place in the Music Instruction Building. This is the first time Ball State has hosted this bi-annual conference, and the theme this year will be “Looking Back and Listening Forward.” Conference attendees will explore the traditions of the wind band movement over the past century.

Top-tier university wind bands from Ball State University, The Ohio State University, The University of Iowa, Miami University, Luther College, Illinois State University, and Wheaton College will perform free concerts in Sursa Hall that will be streamed live. In addition, an intercollegiate band will be assembled consisting of highly talented university musicians representing 18 universities and colleges. This diverse band will perform a concert on March 1 at 4:30 p.m. in Sursa Hall.

Pulitzer Prize winning composers Michael Colgrass and Aaron Jay Kernis will also present at the conference. Please come and join us for a weekend of great music.
