Central Recording Services is responsible for recording School of Music events.
Events automatically scheduled to be recorded for the School of Music archive include:
Events not on the automatically scheduled list must be requested (PDF), approved and paid in full no later than two weeks before the event. Approved events will be posted on the Central Recording Services calendar. Note: Recordings are archival only and are not available for immediate distribution. Recordings meant for distribution are subject to copyright law and must obtain proper mechanical licensing.

Students may purchase a personal copy of each concert (PDF). First CD copy is $30. Additional copies of the same concert are $10. Students will be notified when the CDs are ready for pickup in Hargreaves Music Building (MU), room 203. Check or money order should be made payable to Ball State University.
Faculty Copies and Review
Faculty may purchase a personal copy of each concert for $30 (PDF). For automatically recorded Faculty Artist Series concerts, faculty may receive a complimentary recording upon request.
Faculty may access an on-demand stream of the concerts for evaluation or educational purposes. Concerts are typically posted to the online portal within 24 hours of the concert performance.
Sound reinforcement may be requested for events in Sursa Performance Hall, Pruis Hall, and the Music Instruction Building choral rehearsal room. Once it is determined what equipment will be needed, Central Recording Services will set up and run the equipment for the event at no charge. Services must be requested no later than two weeks before the event. Available equipment includes loudspeakers, stage monitors, intercom, microphones, CD/DVD playback, and computer projection.
Central Recording Services can record, edit, mix, and master your audition tape, competition entry, etc. Estimate length of session to set up, record, and edit (two hour minimum). Preferred date(s) should be at least two weeks in advance. Two-hour minimum payment is due when you submit the request. Submit form and $30 to Ranae Burkett.
Once Central Recording Services receives your your request (PDF), an engineer will be assigned. The engineer will contact you and arrange session time. If you’re booking School of Music rooms outside the recording studios (Choral Room or Sursa Performance Hall), arrangements will be made through Becca Braun.
After the session, the engineer will notate the session length, and both the engineer and the performer will sign the form. Deliver signed form to Ranae Burkett with additional payment, $15 per hour, if necessary. Files will be delivered after payment is reconciled.
