Jarmila Popovicova teaches courses in water resources and various aspects of water quality management that includes surface and groundwater sources, drinking water quality and treatment, and onsite and centralized wastewater treatment. She incorporates industrial and international experience into her classes in which she uses various activities to support active and interactive learning. She received a Lawhead teaching award in 2010 for her accomplishments in teaching. Her students have obtained employment at water and wastewater treatment plants, consulting companies (e.g. stormwater management), water quality laboratories, state and local governments offices. In her research, she has conducted studies dealing with assessment of water quality of the Prairie Creek reservoir and three sub-watersheds of White River in Delaware County. She is also interested in the topics of pharmaceuticals, their effects on water quality and removal from wastewater; water quality and treatment in developing countries; historical aspects of water and wastewater treatment systems.
