The School of Nursing at Ball State University is committed to providing quality online education to our students. We are applying nationally recognized Quality Matters standards to continuously improve the design and delivery of all online courses and programs within the School of Nursing. We are systematically building and evaluating our courses based on these rigorous research-based standards. The implementation of QM at the Ball State School of Nursing is one component of a comprehensive quality assurance plan. The Quality Matters Program ensures that the online components of the courses promote learner engagement and provide students with all the tools and information they need to be successful learners.
Lectures, seminars, and Internet modules provide you with the fundamentals, while hands-on, engaging simulation and clinical experiences challenge you to apply classroom knowledge to real-world experiences. As you progress through the nursing curriculum, you will learn increasingly more complex skills, working with clients across the lifespan in acute, chronic, and rehabilitative states in a variety of settings.
At Ball State, we value clinical study and research. You will learn and practice in a variety of health care settings, including hospitals, extended care facilities, clinics, homes, and community health agencies, providing you with real-world experience. Collaborations among peers, faculty, and community partners are key to inclusive, immersive learning.
Our nursing students high pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) is a reflection of our comprehensive curriculum, varied clinical experiences, and student-centered focus. Graduates go on to enjoy success in a variety of settings, and employers note that Ball State graduates are among the most prepared.
We encourage you to deepen your educational experience through the Nursing Living-Learning Community, which matches you with fellow nursing students in select classes as well as in the residence hall. Living and working alongside your peers will help you form lasting professional partnerships, academic support, and a circle of friends. The community offers in-hall advising sessions, hosts speakers and panels, facilitates trips to hospitals and clinics, and connects you with the Ball State Student Nurses Association.
Although our research interests vary, we are a strong community of faculty, students, alumni, and friends who support each other in the classroom and in life after Ball State. Our active Facebook page connects prospective and current students as well as graduates. The Ball State Student Nurses Association Facebook page is another avenue for students to offer academic assistance and socialize.
The Beta Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing is another way to socialize and work with other nurses to enhance the profession.
