Demand for nurses continues to grow, and Ball State has numerous options to open the door to a great career, whether you’re seeking to enter the field as a new nurse or further your career after years caring for others. You can study on-campus on a full-time basis or learn online and incorporate your nursing studies into your already busy schedule. Appropriate clinical experience opportunities can be arranged at care sites near you.
Undergraduate nursing options include an on-campus bachelor’s degree, hybrid and online choices for those transitioning from an LPN or RN background to a bachelor’s in nursing, and a chance for those who have a bachelor’s degree in something else to more quickly earn a bachelor’s in nursing.
At the master’s level, you’ll prepare yourself for work as an adult or family nurse practitioner, or you might choose a leadership track for educators and administrators. There’s an option for transitioning from an RN background directly to a master’s in nursing, as well as a series of post-master’s certificate programs.
The doctor of nursing practice (DNP) program is for advanced practice nurses (nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, nurse midwives) interested in a practice focus preparing for leadership roles to improve health care outcomes at the individual, population, and organizational level.
Classroom experiences at Ball State are outstanding, but we’re also particularly known for our strong emphasis on learning in the real world. No field benefits from this philosophy more than nursing, where hands-on clinical learning is absolutely critical. Beyond that, you’ll also want to be part of the wide range of activities and opportunities that include a learning community where you’ll live with others studying nursing, nursing associations, and honor societies, as well as an active alumni group.
Sound like the boost that your career needs? Then find out how to apply, and don’t forget to explore your options for scholarships and financial aid. Whichever path you follow in the School of Nursing, you’ll be on your way to an exciting and rewarding life after Ball State.
