Admission Requirements and How to Apply

We recommend you start early in order to complete the four major steps to apply to the Ball State doctorate of nursing practice program:

  1. Meet the doctoral admission requirements of the Ball State Graduate School. Exception: The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required.
  2. Apply online to the Graduate School.
  3. Meet the admission requirements  of the School of Nursing.
  4. Complete and submit your DNP application online and mail other required materials
    to the School of Nursing.

Cohorts in the DNP program start in January (the spring semester) each year. The application deadline for the next cohort is August 15, 2015. Please keep in mind that it can take several weeks for college transcripts and other requested materials to arrive at Ball State.

Prior to applying, all prospective students need to visit the Online & Distance Education website to check and see if their state currently allows them to enroll at Ball State University for the Doctorate in Nursing Practice Program. The Online & Distance Education website and its links are updated on an as needed basis, so please check regularly for updates. 

International Students
If you are an international student, you need to start the admissions process with the Rinker Center for International Programs. You will be asked to demonstrate English proficiency and have a minimum TOEFL score of 550.
