Baccalaureate Program Admission Options
Admission to the baccalaureate program is competitive. Students must have met the prerequisite course requirements and will be ranked by cumulative grade point average based on all undergraduate coursework attempted. There are several ways to earn admission to the baccalaureate nursing program.
Degree in 3 track Students admitted to the university as matriculating freshman will submit a letter of request to the School of Nursing to enter the Degree in 3 track. The letter of request is sent during freshman orientation; a contract is also signed at this time. Students take all prerequisite courses in order via the 3 year plan of study. Students apply to the nursing program during the first ten business days of the second semester of the freshman year.
General Applicant track Students admitted to the university with an interest in nursing may follow the General Applicant track. Students apply to the nursing program during the first ten business days of the first semester sophomore year. This program is an 8 academic semester track.
Partners in Nursing Education (PNE) Students in the PNE route must meet all admission criteria and be approved by the Department of Military Science.
Second Baccalaureate Degree Students who have already earned a baccalaureate degree in another Major, as verified by an official transcript from a regionally accredited college or University, will follow the 19 month plan of study set up for them.
L.P.N. to B.S. track Students who are licensed practical nurses (LPNs), with unencumbered Indiana licenses, will follow the LPN to BS plan of study set up for them.
