Online courses in this concentration are taught in an asynchronous format in which you work on weekly assignments at the times and places most convenient to you.

You may qualify for this 36-credit-hour program if you hold a middle school mathematics or elementary teaching license and have at least three years of teaching experience.

You will take the following courses:

Content Knowledge for Teaching Mathematics (15 credit hours)

  • MATH 517 Number Concepts and Number Theory for Teachers (3)
  • MATH 518 Rational Numbers and Proportionality for Elementary, Middle School, and Foundational Mathematics Teachers (3)
  • MATH 542 Geometry and Measurement for Elementary, Middle School, and Foundational Mathematics Teachers (3)
  • MATH 623 Probability, Data Analysis, and Statistical Reasoning (3)

Pedagogical Knowledge for Teaching Mathematics (12 credit hours)

  • MATH 632 Assessment in Mathematics Education (3)
  • MATH 690 Curriculum & Instruction in Mathematics Education (3)
