Admission Requirements for Freshmen Studying Online

If you are or will be a graduate of an accredited high school or have earned a high school equivalency diploma (TASC or GED), you may apply for admission to Ball State.

If you have taken any college courses for credit, then you would be considered a transfer student and would need to follow the transfer process.

Follow the instructions below that relate to your situation.

You are age 23 or older and have never attended college before.

  • You must submit a final high school transcript with graduation date and diploma type earned (if available). To qualify for admission, you must have a high school GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Or, hold a High School Equivalency Diploma. Admissions considers a GED (General Education Diploma) or TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) to meet this admissions requirement if you receiving passing scores. The following are passing scores for the GED:
    • Standard Average Score of at least 520 (or 52 for tests prior to 2002)
    • Writing Skills Score of at least 500 (or 50)
    • Mathematics Score of at least 500 (or 50)
    • Minimum score of 450 (or 45) in each of the remaining sections.

Or, you are under age 23 and have never attended college before.
