Ball State ID Number and Cards for Dual Credit Students

Your ID Number
If you are looking for your Ball State ID number, you can view it at my.bsu.edu. Click on Self-Service Banner, then click the "Personal Information" tab. You will need your Ball State username and password to login. A unique identification number is generated when you become a student in order to protect your privacy.

Ball State ID Cards
Your identification card, known as a Cardinal Card, is issued after you have registered for classes. This ID will allow you to have access to the Ball State library and computer labs.

You will need to complete the steps below so that your Cardinal Card will be sent to your high school teacher or guidance counselor to give to you:

  • Upload your photo (see photo requirements below) by going to www.bsu.edu/cardinalcard. Or, if you live near Muncie, you may visit our campus to have your photo taken. Just go to the Registrar’s Office in Lucina Hall, Room B42, during the business hours listed on the bottom right side of the Registrar's website.
  • Log into the photo upload feature by utilizing your Ball State username and password.
  • Click on Upload ID Photo.
  • Once your photo is uploaded it will be reviewed. You will receive an e-mail when the photo has been accepted or rejected.

Photo Requirements

  • Headshot for Ball State IDUse the template shown at right to visualize how the finished image will look.
  • Must be a recent, color photo.
  • Maximum upload size is 1MB.
  • Pixel size must be 118 x118 (no exceptions).
  • Jpg format only.
  • No group photos.
  • Full head and shoulders image. Make sure the photo presents the full head from the top of your hair to the bottom of your chin. Center your head within the frame.
  • You must be face forward and the photo must have a solid white background. You may smile if you like.
  • Hats, caps, or sunglasses may not be worn in the photo.
  • Derogatory photos will be deleted and Ball State reserves the right to reject submissions.
  • No social media pictures, altered images, or images that deviate from these criteria will be accepted. 

Replacement ID Card 

If you lose your ID card, contact the Registrar's Office. Make sure to tell them you are a dual credit student. All Ball State ID cards cost $10 to replace. This fee will be added to your Ball State dual credit bill.
