Courses You Will Take

The MA program requires at least 30 hours of graduate course work. You must maintain a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale; take at least two courses from adult education; and take at least one course from four of the following eight categories of study:

  1. adult education, program evaluation, and staff development 
  2. business and related areas
  3. computer science and educational technology
  4. educational administration and supervision
  5. gerontology, health science, and wellness
  6. political science
  7. psychology
  8. public relations and communication studies

We encourage you to choose one additional course from adult education, management, communication, political science, or psychology to complement your skills and competencies and to sharpen your public service and non-profit organizational focus.

Students are required to complete a research course. Students often select from: EDPSY 640 Methodology of Educational and Psychological Research; EDSTU 697 Grantsmanship and Research; EDSTU 660 Ethnographic Research in Education; or POLS 625 Research Methods in Political Science.

You may also complete an optional internship for 3–6 credits.
