Kimberley Bodey, Ed.D.

Associate Professor, Department of Recreation and Sport Management, Indiana State University

Kimberley Bodey is an associate professor of the graduate faculty in the Department of Recreation and Sport Management at Indiana State University. She has worked with sport administrators and educators in Morocco to help improve the administrative and managerial capacity of sport leaders in the country. She has taught courses and workshops on the organization of sports leagues and the use of evaluation to improve program services in sport agencies for the Global Center for Independent Studies in Limassol, Cyprus. In 2007, she was named to the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) national taskforce to study the state of coaching education for interscholastic and youth sport coaches in the United States. She has also served as program advocate for the National Youth Sports Program.

Former track and field coach at the University of Iowa and the University of Arkansas, Bodey has expertise in championship event planning and management, resource development and budgeting, rules compliance, and personnel administration. She is co-author of two textbooks, The Management of Clubs, Recreation, and Sport: Concepts and Applications and Sport Governance and Policy Development: An Ethical Approach to Managing Sport in the 21st Century. In 2009, Indiana’s Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AHPERD) named her the Sport Management Professional of the Year. She has made presentations nationally and internationally on coaching education, youth development in sport, staff/development training, and rural recreation master planning and fundraising.



As an athlete, she was a USA Olympic trials qualifier in 1992 and a member of the Big 10 championship track and field team at the University of Illinois. She earned her doctorate in recreation with an emphasis in public policy from the University of Arkansas.
