Classroom Technology That You May Use

As a new student, you’ll quickly become accustomed to the technology you will use. However, if you need to become familiar with the systems, or if you simply need a refresher, you can easily find help for many technology questions. Bookmark this page as a quick reference.

  • Blackboard Overview and Tech Support—Blackboard is the system faculty use to deliver all your course content like assignments, readings, tests, and more. Plus, it is the place you will be interacting with your professor and other students taking the course.
  • Mediasite Classes—Some of your professors may use Mediasite to present content for either online or on-site courses. Mediasite allows you to view video or other types of presentations online and gives you the control over the playback--think of it as DVR for your class.
  • Fixed-Time Online Courses—Some of our online courses are fixed-time online courses. This means the courses are taught live on our main campus in Muncie and are simultaneously video streamed through the Internet for you to watch. Classes are taught on specific days at specific times. You are expected to view these classes via the Internet as they are occurring on campus. Or some professors allow you to watch a recorded version at a later time. Make sure you know your professors' expectations.
  • Opening, Viewing, and Attaching Files—Some helpful basics.
  • Ball State—Once you are a student, you will have access to a free online learning service that offers online training courses from Microsoft, Apple, Adobe, Blackboard, and many other companies that are available 24/7.
