Fall 2014-Summer 2015: Undergraduate Tuition for Online and Distance Education Students

The following costs are for Ball State students working on bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, undergraduate certificates, or taking 100- to 400-level courses via online or distance education courses in the Greater Indianapolis area. This information is meant to help you estimate your education expenses.

As an online and distance student, your total tuition cost per semester consists of:

  1. Basic tuition or per-credit-hour fees
  2. Technology fee 
  3. Program and/or course fees—applicable for some, but not all, courses or programs

NOTE: If you take one or more courses on Ball State’s main campus in Muncie, Indiana, during a semester or term, you are required to pay the main-campus rate, which includes additional fees for student services, health, and recreation.


1. Basic Tuition (Credit Hour Fees)

2. Technology Fees

3. Program and Course Fees

The following are fees that most commonly apply to online and distance education students.

Nursing majors
  • $138 program fee per fall and spring semesters; $83 per summer semester 
  • $3.50 for all clinical nursing courses with a lab to cover liability insurance
  • $60 per undergraduate clinical nursing course

CLEP Exams
Ball State also offers national College-Level Examination (CLEP) exams for $125. Successfully passing a CLEP exam allows Ball State to grant academic credit in various subjects, thus potentially reducing your overall costs.

Credit Card Fees
If you use a credit or debit card, you will be charged an extra 2.75% of your total bill. This is the fee passed on from the credit card companies to Ball State for processing. If you do not wish to be charged this fee, you might want to consider other payment methods.
