After earning my Ph.D. I would like to work with collegiate or professional athletes, as well as anyone else looking to improve their performance.  I am also really interested in working with our military.

Advice for Future Students

Study for the GRE, start looking for grad schools early, visit if possible and ask questions!  Stick with what feels right and pursue what you enjoy.  Good Luck!

Career Interests

Earning a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology; I may consult with athletes, teams, and coaches as an applied sport psychologist while teaching at an undergrad institution; I also wouldn't mind coaching swimmers.  It's all subject to change!

Develop sports academy for young athletes, specialization in Olympic individual sports such as swimming and cycling.  Hopefully that the academy will be the home of youth in distress as well, and lead them to a better life.

Neurocognitive aspects of athletes and physically active indiiduals, such as:
  • Perception of effort and time
  • Visual perception and its connections with reaction times and movement precision
  • Interventions that may enhance or weaken motivation for exericse.

Advice for Future Students

Do not slack off at the beginning: ask questions about what you need to do to succeed early.  If possible, conduct your own research in something that interests you.  Begin researching prospective programs at least a year before application, establish contact, and even visit if possible.  Take the GRE early.  Waiting for answers on application may be the most stressful time of your life; try to take care of yourself during this period.  Stay optimistic.

Earning my Ph.D. in either Neuroscience or Cognitive Psychology; Professor at a research university.

Personal Research Interests

I am very interested in the mental effects sport has on a person. There is a wide variety of ways I can take this interest which is one of the things I will need help with in these next two years!

Advice for Future Students

Make sure to explore as many career options as you can when you first start out.  Take the time and effort to see what there is out there in your certain field and start talking to people in your field.  It is always good to start palnning early and having connections right off the bat.  Even if you decide to go in a different direction you will always have that to fall back on or to make yourself unique.
