Immersive Learning

Many things distinguish Ball State, but immersive learning is the hallmark of a Ball State education. The university and all of its programs excel at sending students out into real-world experiences while they’re still learning—such experiences are immensely rewarding, highly enriching, and incredibly valuable when it comes time to land employment. Such experiences also help faculty make connections in the community, and inspire graduates to build upon their experiences after they leave campus.

Our students and faculty benefit from many immersive learning opportunities. For example, one program brings our sport administration program into a local elementary school to get the kids there moving and fighting obesity. Another sport administration program developed and managed health and wellness camps in nearby rural counties, creating immersive learning opportunities for a class of 16 Ball State students while encouraging children to adopt healthier lifestyles. One graduate applied what she learned through her immersive Ball State experiences and developed new physical education ideas that attracted the attention of The Wall Street Journal.
