Nuclear and Radiation Physics

web2_wb019_054David Ober and Saiful Islam are conducting studies of the transport of radioactive radon in soils.

In addition to conducting tests for the concentration of radon in homes and schools, they are cooperating with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in making measurements of the radium content in soils at selected sites in the state of Indiana.

The goal of the research is to improve the understanding of and to reduce the environmental effect that radioactive substances such as radon and radium have on human health.
