If you are interested in joining Psi Chi, the National Psi Chi headquarters has changed how it processes potential member's applications. Rather than submitting an application on this website and sending it to your local Ball State Psi Chi chapter of Psi Chi, you will click on this link: http://www.psichi.org/?page=JoinToday, which will send your application directly to the national headquarters. Within a few weeks of submitting your application you will receive an email either confirming that you qualify to join Psi Chi and giving you further directions about how to join, or explaining why do not meet the qualifications at this time. Please note that the Department of Psychological Science now uses two application deadlines: The fall deadline is the last Friday of October, and the spring deadline is the first Friday in March. If either of these days falls on a school break or holiday, you can submit your application the next business day. If you submit your application after these deadlines we may not be able to process your application until the following semester. Contact Dr. Rohrer if you have any questions. The national and chapter organization's requirements for membership are:
- Completion of at least 3 semesters or 5 quarters of college courses.
- Completion of 9 semester hours or 14 quarter hours of psychology.
- Registration for major or minor standing in psychological science.
- Undergraduates who are elected to Psi Chi must rank in the upper 35% of their class (sophomore, junior, senior) in general scholarship.
In addition, you must also demonstrate superior scholarship in psychology, earning a minimum GPA in psychology courses of at least 3.0, and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. 5. Graduate students must also demonstrate superior scholarship in psychology, earning a minimum GPA in psychology courses of at least 3.0, and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
