Fang Gong joined the Department of Sociology at Ball State as assistant professor in 2008. Before coming to Ball State, she served as a post-doctoral fellow as a medical sociologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for two years, doing research on health disparities. Professor Gong received her MA and PhD degrees in sociology from Indiana University in 2006. Her main research/teaching interests include health and illness, race/ethnicity and immigration, the life course research, and statistics. Professor Gong currently teaches courses in introduction to sociology, sociology of health and illness, sociology of mental health, and social statistics. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, visiting ethnic restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.
