Twenty-five observation hours in audiology or speech-language pathology are required prior to seeking certification in Audiology. Students obtain sufficient observation hours throughout the academic program but applicants are encouraged to observe an audiologist as part of the career decision-making process.

Applicants who have observation hours should provide written documentation that includes the date, number of hours, and a brief description of the procedures observed. This record must be signed by the audiologist observed or the audiologist in charge of the observation. Students who have acquired speech-language pathology observation hours should also submit this documentation as some of these hours can also be used to meet this requirement.

Having or not having observation hours will not impact an applicant's chances of being admitted to the program.
