Student teaching at Ball State University is a semester-long experience that permits teacher candidates to demonstrate the integration of knowledge, performance, and dispositions learned in the professional education sequence to professional classroom settings. The purpose of student teaching is to provide a planned, supervised learning experience in schools where the teacher candidate practices the application of pedagogical content knowledge to demonstrate teaching ability under direct supervision by school and university personnel. While student teaching presents learning opportunities, it also embodies the added responsibility of teaching and advising K-12 students. Students can choose to student teach in Indiana, or choose from one of our national/international opportunities. For more information on these unique opportunities, please click here.
