Indiana Core Assessment Tests: Dual Major-Elementary Ed and Mild Interventions

Content Area and Developmental Tests

Each applicant for an original teaching license must pass the content and pedagogy areas for their license major. It is recommended that all license exam requirements be completed prior to the beginning of the student’s last semester before graduation and/or completion of the last license course requirement. It may require more than one test session to complete all the tests required.

Notice:  Because the State of Indiana is in a testing transition, up until May 31st, 2014, students can choose either testing Option 1 or Option 2 below in fulfilling the appropriate Decision Point 4 testing requirements. Effective June 1st, 2014 ONLY Option 1 will be available to students.  Should a student choose Option 2 during this transition, the content test(s) (ETS Praxis II) must be passed by May 31st, 2014. If all Praxis II test(s) are not passed by May 31st, 2014, students must take ALL the required Pearson Content Tests. The pedagogy exam (Pearson) can be passed at any time.

Please note: Dual majors must complete the Elementary Education tests. The student then applies for an Initial license in Elementary Education.  Once the student receives this initial license, the student then applies to add Mild Interventions onto their original license.

*If the student chooses they can do all the required tests, including the test in special education and just apply for the initial license, without needing to apply for a license addition.  Should you have questions on the pros and cons of this route, please contact the OTES office.
