This program prepares candidates to teach in either a regular elementary education classroom or to teach students who require mild special education interventions to achieve their educational potential. Students who require mild interventions generally have problems in learning academic subjects due to learning and/or behavioral problems. This program prepares candidates to work with students who require mild intervention services at the early elementary and elementary levels. The program includes many opportunities for field-based experiences in schools and agencies. This program requires a minimum of 137 credit hours and is located in the departments of special education and elementary education. The introductory course for this program is SPCED 201.
