The doctoral program in counseling psychology has a selective admissions policy. No more than ten master's level and two bachelor's level students are accepted to the program each year. The department prefers candidates who have strong backgrounds in psychology and work experience related to counseling psychology.
Candidates may hold a bachelor's or master's degree. A major in psychology is preferred for bachelor's-level applicants, but not required. Master's-level applicants must have majored in counseling, counseling and guidance, psychology, educational or school psychology, clinical psychology, social work, or a related subject.
