Master's in Educational Psychology
A master’s degree in Educational Psychology provides an important step for a profession in any educational setting. Practicing school personnel may complete the degree as they pursue professional continuing education credits and/or the High Ability licensure. Professionals who worked with children and families in other fields may also benefit from our advanced coursework in learning and human development. Students that graduate from the program may pursue doctoral degrees in education or psychology. Currently all core courses and the educational psychology courses for the three specializations are offered online. Course listings from the School of Extended Education are posted online.

Admission Requirements and How to Apply
To apply for admission to the MA in educational psychology program, you should:
- Have an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of at least a 2.75 from a regionally accredited institution.
- Have satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
- Apply and meet the admission requirements of the Ball State Graduate School.
- Forward to Graduate Admissions Specialist, MA program director, a letter of intent outlining your career goals and how a degree in educational psychology can help you attain those goals. This is essential.
- Send two letters of reference to: Graduate Admissions Specialist, Department of Educational Psychology, Ball State University, Muncie, IN 47306.

MA Application Materials
PhD in Educational Psychology (General Track)
The doctoral program in Educational Psychology trains research scholars who will contribute to the understanding of teaching, learning and development; educational accountability and program evaluation; and individual differences in learning and adjustment in educational settings. The core program features areas of study such as learning, human development, statistics, measurement and research methods. The emphasis of program training is to develop research competence to make significant contributions to the knowledge base in educational psychology and to develop the skills necessary to address applied problems in educational settings. Graduates with a doctoral degree in Educational Psychology are qualified for academic positions in higher education and research positions in public and private institutions such as professional evaluation firms and testing companies.
Program Requirements
The doctoral program requires 90 credit hours beyond the baccalaureate. Students with a Masters degree must complete at least 60 hours of program coursework at Ball State University. Each student must complete a total of 56 credit hours in the core program. An additional 9 credit hours will be earned in directed electives; 10 hours for dissertation research; and 15 hours in specialty areas of study such as gifted studies, statistics, and human development.

Admissions
Admission to the doctoral program will minimally require a baccalaureate degree in psychology, education or related field granted by an accredited institution.
Successful candidates will meet admission standards established by the Graduate School of Ball State University; present evidence of academic excellence; and show promise in scholarship. The proposed program does not require internship or practica.
Application
Applicants must apply to both the Graduate School and the Department of Educational Psychology. We suggest that you submit materials to The Graduate School and the department concurrently. The department must receive notification from the Graduate School that your application meets their standards for admission before your departmental file can be evaluated for admission to the program. It takes the Graduate School approximately four weeks to process a completed application, so it is imperative that you submit your materials to the Graduate School in plenty of time (by February 1st) to meet the departmental deadline of February 15th.
