Step by Step Instructions on How to Apply

Below are steps you need to follow in order to register for classes.  If you are not currently a Ball State student, begin at Step 1.  If you are currently a BSU student, begin at Step 2.

1.  APPLYING FOR ADMISSION TO THE GRADUATE SCHOOL

A.   Be sure you meet the minimum requirements for admission to the graduate school.
B.   Complete and submit the on-line application: Graduate School Admissions

  • Note:  Please be sure to check the correct box (GT License or GT Certificate).  This is not a specialist degree, so do not check that box.

C.   The application fee is $50 and may be paid on-line by credit card after you complete and submit your online application. Students may also mail a check to Ball State University, Graduate School, 2000 W University Ave. Muncie, IN  47306
D.   Request official transcripts from each college previously attended to be sent to the Graduate School at the above address.  Questions about the graduate admission process may be directed to the Graduate School at 1-866-385-4723 or via e-mail.
E.    You may register for classes after you are admitted to the graduate school.

2.  NOTIFICATION OF INTENT TO PURSURE LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATE
All students must notify the Educational Psychology Department of the intention to take courses in the Gifted and Talented Licensure or Certificate series. Email your intention to the Graduate Admissions Specialist Linda Jones with the subject line reading: Intent to take graduate courses for Gifted and Talented License or Intent to take graduate courses for Gifted and Talented Certificate. Give her your name, contact information, school where you work, etc.  

3.  REGISTERING FOR CLASSES
Upon official admission, a BSU username and password will be sent to your personal email account. The username and password is used to register for classes online.
The username and password is also used for viewing your grades online, logging onto Course Web sites, and checking your BSU E-mail account. All Ball State correspondence will be sent to your BSU e-mail account. (Click on Microsoft Outlook Access).
 
4.  PAYING TUITION
Tuition information: Payments may be made anytime on-line using a credit card or e-check.  Students may also mail checks or money order to the Bursar’s Office, Ball State University, Muncie, IN  47306 . Tuition notification is sent to your BSU e-mail account when your bill is ready to be viewed.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Refunds are determined by the date the drop or withdrawal is called into the School of Extended Education.
  • Student will receive a 100% refund if they drop during the first week of Ball State’s semester. Withdrawal refund percentages decline rapidly with each day or week.
  • Online and Distance Education information.
  • Obtain a transcript request form. Transcripts are free at Ball State.
