Clients may be referred to the clinic for a variety of presenting problems or questions, such as mental handicaps, learning difficulties, socioemotional/behavioral problems, and academic giftedness.

The School Psychology Clinic receives referrals from a variety of sources. Those sources include parents, individual self-referrals, Ball State University clinics in other professional areas, surrounding school systems, private and public agencies, physicians, and others. The School Psychology Clinic also provides services directly to the Diagnostic Learning Center, which offers psychoeducational evaluation services for children and adolescents suspected of being learning disabled.

Feedback of diagnostic results and appropriate recommendations are provided to parents and other designated agencies in both oral and written form. Follow-up of processed cases may be conducted to monitor client progress.
