Lisa Huffman received her MA and PhD in developmental psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Huffman teaches undergraduate and graduate classes in child and adult development as well as a doctoral seminar in theories of development. Her research interests include evaluating the use of educational technology in classrooms and how it impacts engagement and student achievement.  This work has included studies of both video games and commercial educational software.  In a different vein, Huffman studies the impact of international study abroad experiences on student development and higher order thinking. This includes regular travel abroad. Her other research interests include cognitive development and memory across the lifespan, teacher’s beliefs about child development and memory in students, and teacher education.
