As a degree requirement of the school counseling program, you are required to submit a portfolio that includes evidence regarding your practice and/or support of:

  • developmental guidance instruction/curricula
  • educational development
  • career development
  • counseling strategies
  • prevention programming
  • crisis intervention services
  • advocacy for all students
  • the establishment of a professional identity

These data are collected from a variety of activities. The beginning counselor portfolio is uniquely designed to equip you for school counseling practice by providing instruction and reflective inquiry. The standards and assessments for preparing and licensing school counselors are purposefully linked to each other and to standards and assessments validating increased learning by Indiana's students.
