Students at all levels are pursuing fulfilling programs at Ball State. Undergraduate majors are preparing for classroom instruction careers. Master’s students have set their sights on secondary and higher education, adult education, community service, and curriculum development. Doctoral candidates seek to improve education through research, consultation, and other contributions. Still others come to us seeking specialized training in such areas as student affairs administration or science and math instruction.
At Ball State, your education will go beyond the classroom. Immersive learning, for instance, matches an interdisciplinary student team with a business or community partner to provide a product or service.
Our undergraduate degrees prepare students to earn teaching licenses to teach at secondary schools, middle/junior high schools, and in certain all-grade education programs such as physical education and art. Minors are available in educational technology and multicultural education.
Graduate degrees include master’s level study in curriculum and educational technology, secondary education, adult and community education, executive development for public service, and student affairs administration for higher education. Also at the graduate level, we offer a doctor of education (EdD) in adult, higher, and community education, as well as a PhD in educational studies. In addition, a variety of specialized doctoral cognates match many students’ interests and passions. For professionals in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) discipline, the prestigious Woodrow Wilson Indiana Teaching Fellowships offer a year-long master’s program to start a teaching career and assist a high-need school.
Many of our programs are geared toward traditional on-campus students, but many others have been developed with distance learners in mind. Those entering as graduate, distance learning and international students should apply through those areas of Ball State. Our department offers access to a range of helpful services for current students, including expert advising and assistance in navigating the teaching license process. No matter what direction you choose, our programs are geared toward an exciting life after Ball State.
