Having a bachelor degree in early childhood education meets the basic licensing requirements to becomre a director of an early childhood program in Indiana. However, teaching in a preschool classroom is vastly different from being in charge of a total program. This certificate program is designed to better prepare individuals for administrative positions by providing specialized coursework in areas of administration and leadership. The four (4) required courses meet the early childhood program core competency requirements identified by the Indiana Association for the Education of Young Children (IAEYC). These competencies address pedagogy, organization and systems, human resources, collaboration, and public policy. Upon completion of the courses, students can be recognized by IAEYC with a Program Administrator Certificate.
