  • *SCI 397: Teaching Science in the Elementary School (3)
  • *EDRDG 400: Teaching of Reading in Today's School (3)
  • *MATHS 391: Teaching and Learning Mathematics in the Elementary School (3)
  • *EDPSY 393: Educational Psychology for Elementary Education (3)

Fall or Spring

  • *EDEL 350: Teaching in the Elementary Education Classroom/Practicum (2)
  • *SPCED 302: Teaching Students with Disabilities in the General Education Classroom (3)
  • *ENG 311: The Teaching of Language Arts in the Elementary Grades (3)
  • *SS 397: Teaching Social Studies in the Elementary School (3)
  • *EDRDG 430: Corrective Reading/Practicum (3)

Concentration Area Course (3)

By the end of the third year, each student should have:

  1. Completed EDEL 300, EDRDG 400, EDEL 350, SCI 397, SS 397, EDPSY 393, and MATHS 391 with at least a grade of "C"
  2. Maintained at least a 2.5 overall G.P.A.;
  3. Completed all Department requirements, and College Standards; and
  4. Passed the Writing Competency Exam.

  • *EDFON 420: Social, Historical, and Philosophical Foundations of Education (3)
  • *EDEL 450: Senior Seminar in Early Childhood and Elementary Education (3)

By the end of the fourth year, each student should have:

  1. Passed the designated tests for the Praxis II Exams;
  2. Completed all requirements for graduation;
  3. Applied for graduation;
  4. Completed all Department and College Standards for licensure by the State of Indiana.
