Elementary education professors Patricia Clark and Eva Zygmunt are enriching the lives of inner-city school children while helping their teaching students connect to the local community through an immersive learning experience. The faculty team secured a $779,000 state grant to create the Muncie P3 program, which provides extended enrichment, literacy, and tutoring activities for students at Longfellow Elementary School. Ball State education majors assist with the program, which serves as a model for other schools. The program director, Wilisha Scaife says, “Muncie P3 has broadened the notion of what a teacher and educator is.”
