Brooke Wilken, PhD, is an assistant professor and director of the Social Psychology Program in the Department of Counseling and Guidance Services. She completed her PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her BS in Psychology and Languages (Spanish, Japanese, and Mandarin) from the University of California-Riverside. In between, she worked for several years as a director of education at a Sylvan Learning Center and as a research assistant in a lab at the University of California-Santa Barbara. Her primary interest is in East-West cultural and religious differences in the experience and regulation of emotion, as well as their mental health consequences.

Research interests: Cultural psychology (focusing on cultural and religious differences between European Americans and East Asians/East Asian Americans), the experience and regulation of emotions, depression, positive psychology, Buddhism, and mindfulness

Teaching: She teaches Social Psychology, Group Dynamics, Social Cognition, Attitudes, and Social Psychological Applications to Counseling Psychology.
