The Ball State Center for Economic Education (BSUCEE), led by Director Melinda Schoenfeldt from the Department of Elementary Education, has been selected to receive the 2013 Community Engagement Award from the Peter V. Harrington Awards for University Centers. The Center was honored for "excellence in promoting and generating support for economic education in the community." The honor comes with a $1,500 award, thanks to generous funding by Duke Realty. The Harrington Judging Committee was very impressed with the outreach that the Center has conducted over the past year, and was appreciative of initiatives to enhance the visibility of the Center’s services and resources within the broader Ball State and Muncie communities (including the Ross Center, BSU colleagues, and students in the Teachers College). The committee applauded efforts by the Center to connect with stakeholders and to maintain an active advisory committee. As a winner, Schoenfeldt and the BSUCEE were recognized at Indiana Center for Economic Education's (ICEE) Annual Awards Program on September 20, 2013 at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis.
