Biography
Susan Koper joined the Ball State University Department of Theatre and Dance in the spring of 2008. She holds a BA from The University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN and is currently pursuing her MFA in dance at Hollings University/ADF on a partial fellowship. She has danced professionally with Empire State Ballet in Buffalo, NY and danced with modern company Dance Theatre North in Homer, AK. She has studied with many professionals including Alonzo King and Bill Evans and in 2004, she received an Individual Artist Grant from the Indian Arts Commission to work with Mr. Evans and performed in his piece “Ground Zero”. Susan’s latest performances include dancing at the Harvest Chicago Contemporary Dance Festival in Chicago, IL and the DUMBO Dance Festival and CoolNY Festival in NY with z3movment project. Her latest undertaking includes showing her thesis work at the 2012 DUMBO Dance Festival in the fall of 2012. Ms. Koper has also worked extensively with children and has taught dance to children at private studios and arts centers for the past 16 years. Ms. Koper’s responsibilities in the department include teaching ballet and modern dance as well as choreographing for Ball State Dance Theatre.
