Alan is the interim technical director for the mainstage productions in University Theatre. He also teaches Stagecraft and CAD classes, as well as mentoring Independent Studies in Advanced CAD and Rigging. This is his first year at Ball State.

In 2008 Alan received his undergraduate degree from Hanover College in southern Indiana, and in 2011 his MFA from the University of Virginia, where he studied Technical Direction and worked on a variety of productions, including a unique experience building scenery for a United States military training facility. He also worked as the technical director for Shawnee Summer Theatre in Bloomfield, IN and as the assistant technical director for the Heritage Theatre Festival in Charlottesville, VA.

After graduating from UVA, Alan moved to Las Vegas to work as a technical rigger for Cirque du Soleil’s “O” at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. In August of 2013 he became the rigging supervisor for MGM Resorts International Production Services.

Alan is very excited to make the move back to the mid-west, and is looking forward to working in an educational theatre setting again.
