Tracey Elaine Chessum ( has taught theatre and music on all levels of education, winning awards for curriculum design and performance. She is equally active in the professional theatre realm, having worked as a director, producer, sound & projections designer, music director and conductor for a myriad of professional theatre companies around the country. She is currently the Associate Artistic Director and Founder of Pallas Theatre Collective in Washington, D.C. (a Helen Hayes Award-eligible company) where she spearheads the theatre's new musical theatre development arm.

Tracey holds a M.M. in performance from Azusa Pacific University, where she held conducting assistantship and studied with Duane Funderburk, David Hughes, and John Sutton of the Angeles Chorale. She recieved her M.A. in the humanities from California State University, Dominguez Hills where her research focused on performances of women in Shakespearean film. Tracey did her doctoral work at the University of Maryland, where she studied with Heather Nathans and completed her dissertation on John Philip Sousa's comic operas. She has presented papers at national and international conferences, and is currently working on a manuscript entitled, "Selling a New Americanism: John Philip Sousa and American Operetta at the Turn of the 20th Century." Tracey is the webmaster for the Association of Theatre in Higher Education's Music Theatre/Dance Focus Group, and the Treasurer of the American Theatre and Drama Society.
