Theatre and Dance

Scholarships

An audition or interview is required for any incoming theatre or dance major who wants to be considered for a Fine Arts Scholarship, a Talent Scholarship, or a Presidential Scholarship in the Arts. Students auditioning for the Department of Theatre and Dance programs do not have to audition separately for scholarships; one audition covers both requirements. (Please visit the auditions page for this year's audition and interview dates.) To be eligible for a scholarship, a student must be accepted by Ball State University (regular or distinction basis) and be a declared Theatre or Dance major.

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN

  • FINE ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS are $4,000 ($1,000 per year for four years).
  • TALENT SCHOLARSHIPS provide one-year stipends of $500 to $1,000, and students can reapply each year.
  • PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE ARTS - The Department awards 7-10 Presidential Scholarships in the Arts. These awards are $4500 for in-state students and $12,000 for out-of-state students. Presidential Scholarships in the Arts are offered to those students with strong academic credentials and superior talent in their given area.

  • ACADEMIC RECOGNITION AWARD SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR MINORITY STUDENTS
Ball State University's Academic Recognition Scholarship qualifies eligible minority, out-of-state high school seniors who have maintained a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) cumulative grade point average for the equivalent of in-state tuition rates. This scholarship is worth more than $60,000 over the course of four years. Students receiving this award are still responsible for paying the equivalent of in-state tuition rates and fees. This scholarship is awarded for a maximum of eight semesters of undergraduate study at Ball State and is renewable if your cumulative grade point average is 2.0 or higher at the end of each academic year.  Please visit Academic Recognition Scholarship for detailed information.

UPPERCLASSMEN TALENT SCHOLARSHIPS
The department awards a limited number of one-year talent scholarships to Theatre and Dance students with sophomore, junior, or senior status. Stipends are $500-$1,000, and students can re-apply each year.
