Biography
Gilbert Bloom
was born and raised in Rochester, New York. He attended the Eastman School of Music. Gilbert received a BA from the College of Wooster and a MA and PhD from the State University of Iowa.

He began teaching at Ball State University in 1962. His areas of specialization are History of Theatre and Dramatic Theory and Criticism. Gilbert has also taught Introduction to Theatre, Acting, Directing, Oral Interpretation, Lighting Design and Scenic Design. He has directed over 50 productions at Ball State.

Gilbert retired from full time teaching in 2004 from Ball State University. He is married with one daughter, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
