Registration Process for On Campus Students
Beginning in Fall 2012, registration for the on-campus Writing Proficiency Exam (WPP392) will be done using Self-Service Banner (SSB) Registration—the same process you use when registering for classes.
During the academic year, there are two registration periods per semester, and these are labeled WP1 and WP2.
WP1 refers to the first registration period in a semester, and WP2 refers to the second.
For example, in Fall 2012, WP1 refers to the registration period for the Sep. 2012 exams, and WP2 refers to the registration period for the Oct./Nov. 2012 exams. In Summer, there is only one registration period.
Follow the Check-off list below to sign up and find the documents you need for the Exam:
_____ CHECK your eligibility: You MUST have completed at least 60 credit hours and have credit in
ENG 104 or its equivalent.
_____ REVIEW the articles being used for the exams.
_____ NOTE the name and section number of the article you wish to work with.
These are listed above the titles and citation information of the articles.
_____ REGISTER for the exam during the published registration period.
Go to SS Banner’s Course Registration at http://my.bsu.edu
The section of the exam for which you register for should be consistent with your article.
E.g. WPP392 01A, 01B, 01C, etc. all use the same article.
During the registration period you may switch section.
Once the registration period is over, you must stay with your chosen section.
If you withdraw from a section during the Web Withdrawal period, you will receive a "W"
which does not count as one of your two attempts at WPP392.
After the Web Withdrawal period, you will be given a "NC" if you do not write your exam.
Any "NC" counts as one of your two attempts at WPP392.
_____ PRINT off the Registration Letter for the exam for which you are registered.
To find the appropriate Registration Letter, you should go to the Writing Proficiency Exam
link on Blackboard. Your letter number corresponds with the section number for which you
have signed up.
For example, if I signed up for WPP392 01A, I would need to print off the 01
Registration Letter.
Your registration letter contains important information about the exam, so do print it off and keep it.
If you have questions about registration, you should email writingcomp@bsu.edu or call Becky Amato at 765-285-2385.
If you have any questions about your eligibility for the exam, contact Dr. Anna Priebe at 765-285-8464
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Because lab space is limited, no late registrations or exchanges can be made once the registration period has ended.
Remember: The Writing Proficiency Exam is a graduation requirement, and each exam section has 160 spaces available. Therefore, plan ahead!
