Susan Smith Prink (1894-1976), was an editor for Macmillan Publishing Company, 1930-1959. The collection was donated in Susan Prink's name by E. Bruce Kirkham, a relative and Ball State faculty member. The Susan Smith Prink collection consists of 21 books autographed by the authors, manuscripts, and memorabilia. Highlights include material of Margaret Mitchell, author of Gone with the Wind, including a copy of the book signed by Mitchell to Prink in 1936, a letter from Mitchell to Prink, a 25th anniversary booklet for Gone with the Wind, 10 newspaper clippings about the book, a framed $5.00 Confederate bill presented by Mitchell to the editor, and a 1940 program for a showing of the film. Also includes correspondence with authors such as John Masefield and Herbert Hoover.
