Original Cataloging

Original Cataloging creates new records for inclusion in the Libraries' CardCat and OCLC's WorldCat databases for monographs in all formats and languages collected by the University Libraries. This includes: books, music, maps, computer software, video, audio, archival materials, architecture slides, 2-D and 3-D items, microforms, instructional materials, and kits. Original catalogers are also responsible for the creation and ongoing development of the University Libraries' Media Finders,  expert search programs designed to help patrons locate hard to find or specialized types of materials inthe libraries collections through CardCat.
