Authority Control / Bibliographic Control
Authority Control is responsible for ensuring accurate and consistent names, subjects, and series in the CardCat online catalog. These headings are verified against a national database or created locally according to national standards. Accurate and consistent CardCat headings and cross references result in library users' being able to identify and retrieve materials in the University Libraries' collections.
Bibliographic Control searches for pre-existing OCLC bibliographic records in all formats and languages and is responsible for quality control and record maintenance activities in CardCat and other databases for monographs, including added copies and volumes, transfers and withdrawals. This section also catalogs and classifies two dimensional materials and architecture digital images.
