The Music Collection includes books and periodicals about all kinds of popular music styles, written for both scholarly and mainstream audiences. Research in popular music relies on the same tools as other types of music, but you may find primary sources for recent music within general research tools, such as Reader’s Guide Retrospective .
When searching CardCat , you can specify the format in Advanced Search . You can specify “books,” “compact discs, audio,” “DVD videos” or “Score, musical.” (Note” “score, musical” means any printed sheet music in CardCat.)
Recordings of popular music from all eras and in all styles are among the 17,000+ compact discs in the Music Collection. Search by “author” (performer), title, or keyword in CardCat or Ball State’s Media Finder for non-Classical music. You may check out up to 30 CDs at a time.
