The University Libraries' Google ChromeZone Project

Tuesday, September 18, 2012, the University Libraries inaugurated the Google ChromeZone Project, an important innovation and initiative that will provide Ball State students with access to Google Chromebox devices and large HD monitors. Currently, there are ten computers available for access with the units located on Bracken Library 1-West.

This new technology is accessible to Ball State students who are using either their Google Gmail (gmail.com) or Google Apps (bsugmail.net) account. ChromeZone technology allows users to connect online faster for improved productivity and creativity. An especially nice feature is that it allows users to sync across multiple devices. That is, users can logon to the Chrome browser on any device and access any bookmarks, browser extensions, apps, and themes that have been saved or synced to their Google account.

Google ChromeZone is a high value solution in that any resource accessible through a browser can now be used in the ChromeZone as well as thousands of apps from the Chrome Web Store.

The Google ChromeZone Project is sponsored by the Office of Information Technology and is hosted and managed by the University Libraries. ◙
