The financial mathematics major combines the study of applied mathematics and specialized financial topics. The program prepares you to work with investment banks, financial firms, money management firms, and insurance companies. It also provides excellent preparation for graduate school.
You will take business courses in accounting, economics, computer science, and finance, as well as mathematics courses in probability, statistics, finance, investments, and numeric analysis. You can also complete an internship to practice your skills and knowledge in a real-world environment.
If you would like to major in a mathematics-related area, you should take all the college preparatory mathematics courses that your high school offers. You should enter college with a strong understanding of high school algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus.
