FAFSA Priority Date

If you are seeking financial aid, March 10 is the key deadline to remember each and every year you need financial assistance.

There is a reason that federal financial aid staff refers to this date as its priority date. If you miss that deadline, many important aid options will not be available to you.

Grants and Loans with a March 10 Deadline

For undergraduate students, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be received by the federal processor on or before March 10 each year for priority consideration for all grants and loans including:

• Federal Pell Grant 
• Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant
• Fees Assistance Grant
• Ball State University Grant
• Ball State Scholarships
• Indiana Frank O'Bannon Grant
• Indiana National Guard Supplement
• Indiana 21st Century Scholars Award
• Federal Work-Study
• Federal Perkins Loan
• Federal Direct Stafford Loan
• Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan

Grants and Loans Available After March 10

You may still file a FAFSA after the deadline date; however, missing the FAFSA priority date limits your eligibility to receive only the following:

• Federal Pell Grant
• Federal Direct Stafford Loan
• Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan
