Several placement exams are offered free of charge during Orientation. Depending on your academic background and the major you plan to pursue, you may need to take a placement exam in mathematics or foreign language. Your academic advisor will help you decide if any of these tests are appropriate for you.
Placement exams are on Day 1. Special preparation for placement testing is not necessary.
Plan to take a mathematics placement exam (on Day 1 from 4-5 p.m.) if you are interested in studying:

Foreign Language Exam
Plan to take the foreign language placement exam during Orientation (on Day 1 from 2:30-3 p.m.) if you are considering the following areas of study:
Taking the placement test can be advantageous to anyone who studied a foreign language in high school. To receive more information or to take the exam prior to Orientation, contact the Department of Modern Languages and Classics at 765-285-1361.
College Credit Already Earned
If you have completed or are completing any courses for college credit, please bring documentation, including course descriptions and grade slips (or a college transcript, if available), to assist your advisor at Orientation. Please also inform your advisor if you are participating in any testing programs for college credit, including AP (Advanced Placement), CLEP (College Level Examination Program), or IB (International Baccalaureate).
